Still-life Story animated by Beautiful Light.
My name is Allan Mendez from the beautiful state of California. I’m a passionate still-life light painter photographer and an avid collector of Kitchen Utensils from the Post Medieval Period & The American Revolution. My works are inspired by the paintings of the Dutch Golden Age and Modern Masters, Contemporary American Still-life painters and the photographic works of Harold Ross (an American fine art still-life light sculptor).
My still-life images reflect my deep appreciation of the Dutch Golden Age, Classic Americana and all that it represent. I also continue to explore the historical relationship between these two cultural artifacts that I present in my still-life work.
My Process: Capturing objects with beautiful light is a challenging yet very rewarding task. It requires a well structured workflow with appreciation for beautiful light. I have chosen the Sculpting w/ Light Technique of Harold Ross as my main lighting method because of its ability to show subjects in different light which bring out depth and dimension in an unexpected way.
